The BWT Racing Point F1 Team
The BWT Racing Point Formula One Team is a fairly new team having started competing in F1 motorsport in 2019. The team is based in Silverstone, United Kingdom. The BWT Racing Point is actually a rebranded Force India outfit which was renamed after acquisition by Racing Point UK in 2018. Again the team will be rebranded to Aston Martin for the 2021 Formula One season.
The teams origins dates back to 1991 in association with Jordan Grand Prix outfit. The team saw minor success between the decades that followed and changed names from one outfit to another. In 2007 the team was bought by an Indian businessman Vijay Mallya and it was renamed Force India for the 2008 F1 season.
Force India had a fairly moderate Formula One success attaining one pole position at the 2009 Belgian Grand Prix, six podium race finishes and fourth in world constructors in 2016 and 2017. In 2018 Force India was put under administration and their assets were bought by Racing Point UK, a consortium owned by Canadian businessman Lawrence Stroll.
The BWT Racing Point team CEO and principal is Otmar Szafnauer and Andrew Green is the technical director. The team uses Mercedes powered engines in the F1 championship.
